Welcome to the web page of the MIT Political Science Graduate Student Council!

The MIT Political Science Graduate Student Council will exist to fulfill three objectives:

  1. Coordinate programs and initiatives among graduate students.
  2. Facilitate communication between the graduate student body and the faculty and administration.
  3. Represent the collective interests of the political science graduate student body to the administration and faculty.

Coordination: The Political Science Graduate Student Council will serve as a coordinator of graduate student programs, both social and professional. Coordination responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: outreach to incoming and prospective graduate students, the graduate student mentoring program, the Graduate Student Work in Progress (GSWIP) group, and social functions such as intramural sports and grad student social events.

Communication: The Political Science Graduate Student Council will aim to facilitate communication among the graduate student body, and between graduate students and the administration and faculty, about such matters as program requirements, funding policies, research assistant and teaching assistant procedures, and family-related policies.

Representation: The Political Science Graduate Student Council will represent the graduate student body by soliciting graduate student input on matters of consequence to the department and communicating these to the faculty and administration. The Council will aim to hold one meeting per semester with the graduate student body, as well as ad hoc conversations with graduate students on an ongoing basis. At least once per semester, the Council will seek to communicate the interests and concerns of the graduate student body to the appropriate members of the faculty and administration.
